Pumpin' Pal: The Solution for Hands Free Pumping! Review and Giveaway {Ends 10/15}

The last few days, we have discussed many different kind of pumps and like many of you I was amazed to find out that 93% of breastfeeding mothers use a pump to some degree. The pumps that they use probably vary quite a bit but the fact that most breastfeeding mothers use a pump is astonishing to me.

Using a pump is a great way to increase your milk supply, to continue breastfeeding when you might be tempted to give up, or to continue breastfeeding if you are a working mom. Pumping is a wonderful option but it can also be painful at times. If you slouch over the pump, use breast shields that are too small, or have to hold the pump up the whole time - pumping can be tedious, cause neck pain, and even cause further stress on your nipples.

When I discovered Pumpin' Pal International and the great products that they insisted helped breastfeeding moms to pump more easily - I was intrigued. Their goal is to support breastfeeding moms everywhere so they can not only continue their important journey but do it in such a way that is painless and enjoyable.

The product that they created is a Hands Free Strap that allows you to pump hands free. You do not have to slouch over the pump - in fact you can sit back relax, read a book, work on the computer or anything that you would like to do while pumping. I have even worked on this site while pumping!

My favorite Pumpin' Pal product are their Super Shields. Super Shields are angled breast pumping flanges that work with most breastpumps flanges. Some may wonder why this is so important but many pumps come with a once size fits all shield for pumping and if you are not a small breasted woman, this can be uncomfortable. There are actually pumps that I would not be able to use if it wasn't for the Pumpin' Pal Super Shields. I didn't even realize the shields were causing pain or that I needed a bigger size with my daughter until I had been pumping for almost three months! Thankfully the pump I was using at the time had different size shields that you could buy but many pumps do not. In fact, I reviewed Pumpin' Pal with another pump and if it hadn't have been for Pumpin' Pal, I would not have been able to finish my review.

The other great thing about these flanges is that they aid in the prevention of mastitis and other infections caused by blocked milk ducts. Just having a blocked milk duct can be painful - I had many with my daughter - but I found with the Pumpin' Pal flanges, I have had only one blocked milk duct so far with my son.

I love the Pumpin' Pal Hands Free System and Super Shields - it has really helped with pumping and being more comfortable. I did find that the Hands Free System took a little bit to learn how to use it right but the Pumpin' Pal site has some wonderful videos to help you learn how to use it properly.

Take a look at this great video of Shannon, the President of Pumpin' Pal, talking on the Chat Room about Pumpin' Pal. I love the story behind this company!

If you are interested in learning more about Pumpin' Pal or purchasing your own products, make sure you visit their site! You can purchase an entire All-in-one Kit for $36.85! If you do it right now, you can also get free shipping and a free air-dry accessory bag! The kit comes with a Hands Free Strap, one pair of all three sizes of the Super Shields, and the Pumpin' Pal Pocket Guide to Breastfeeding - this is a great deal - saving you $17.00 if you were to purchase all the items seperately!

Pumpin' Pal loves to support breastfeeding moms so much that are generously giving one of my readers their own Pumpin' Pal All-in-one Kit, a $53.75 value!

I learned that Jon Gillan thought of the hands free BFing idea when his wife couldn't feed their daughter Annie and was having to pump up to 10-12 times a day.

I learned that pressure from a straight flange can lead to a cut at the base of the nipple. When you provide an angled shield, the pressure on the base of the nipple is resolved. Cool!

I learned that part of the impetus for designing it was a local shopowner's comment that -
“Not holding bottles is one thing, but if you really want moms to relax, you have to figure out a way for them not to have to lean forward.”

The Pumpin' Pal Hands-free strap can also be used for single-sided pumping. The cable bar that is used for extra support can be removed, easily allowing a mom to double up the triangular cinch areas and use the strap to vertically support the single pump.
