As a young single, I worked at an ice cream shop in our small town so making fun, frozen treats has been something that I have taken into our marriage and family. Just recently I remembered "Monkeys on a Stick" when trying to think of healthy, frugal alternative to popsicles and ice cream for my daughter (plus less mess!). There are several alternatives to this recipe so I will share a few with you.
This is a fun and easy recipe that your kids will love but can also be involved in!
Monkeys on a Stick
(makes 8 servings)
4 bananas - cut on in half
8 popsicle sticks
yogurt
granola, crushed cereal, or nuts
Take your 8 banana pieces and stick your popsicle stick through the flat side of the banana. Next freeze your eight pieces of banana for at least one hour. After at least one hour, take your banana and roll it in your yogurt. Then roll it in your granola, crushed cereal, or nuts. Wrap your banana treat and freeze until the yogurt is frozen.
Alternatives: Melt Semisweet chocolate chips and dip your banana in that. You can then roll it in nuts, sprinkles, or any kind of fun topping!
These would be great for birthday parties or any kind of fun summer treat!

Yum! These will be so great to make for my three kiddos. Thanks for the great, easy recipe! :)
These are SO good. When I was a child we used to buy these at the mall maybe twice a year but the place has been closed for about 20 years or more. Yours look delicious and we may be making them tomorrow! I love chocolate dipped bananas, or really anything with real bananas. Did you know they sell these things for $5 per box in the grocery store? I wanted a box but not that bad...now I can make a lot for a fraction! Thanks Rachael!
How CUTE! Thanks for sharing this idea...
